Though Chapin is growing at a rapid pace, its reputation as an idyllic, family-oriented, lake community holds firm. But within every community there are personal struggles. Fortunately, The Courage Center has recently expanded recovery services to include adults, after serving youth, young adults, and families since 2016.
Interior Designer Ashley Houston, of Chapin’s Houston House, was asked for a plantation style home that had all of today’s modern conveniences, but looked and felt as if it had been there for a hundred years. The couple wanted to be able to entertain their large extended family, and they wanted enough land to ride their ATVs. This is a family that really lives, and they wanted a house that would keep up, and do so beautifully.
Today, at the end of a nearly half mile driveway, hidden in 105 acres of trees is the family’s completed dream house. The one-time residential build completed by Chapin Commercial Construction is built to commercial standards, ensuring the house could perhaps one day belong to the couple’s great, great grandchildren in centuries to come.
All snakes, whether they are venomous or non-venomous, serve a purpose. They are food for insects, birds, frogs, lizards, and many mammals. Even our beloved Eastern Bluebird enjoys a nice snake snack from time to time. Think about that the next time you see a snake in your garden. Instead of wasting that snake’s life, let it live and play out its important role within our planet. Respect it and think about how its life is connected to the world around it. Become comfortable with it and you may find yourself wanting to create habitat to support it. All life, not just the birds and butterflies, deserve a place in the wild beyond your window.
